Chapter 5: Reborn in the 1980s, I became the Stepmother of Two Children

Chapter 5: Stubborn Xia Dong Tian

Lin Yue noticed that ever since she had opened her eyes, this child had never spoken to her properly. He either glared or shouted at her.

Xiu Er had originally been enjoying her meal, but after hearing her brother's angry outburst, she timidly looked at Lin Yue, then glanced at the cornmeal porridge, clearly wanting to drink it but hesitating at the same time.

Seeing this, Dong Tian quickly softened his tone and gently reassured her, "Xiu Er, you eat your share."

Xiu Er nodded timidly, lowered her head, and continued to sip her porridge.

In no time at all, the bottom of her bowl could be seen.

Seeing his sister finishing so quickly, Dong Tian poured half of his own porridge into Xiu Er's bowl before starting to drink himself.

Lin Yue frowned. This was a time when children needed to grow, how would half a bowl of porridge be enough for him? So she poured her own bowl into Dong Tian’s.

"Don't think that by giving me yours, you can buy us," Dong Tian screamed hoarsely again.

Lin Yue chuckled, "What you're drinking now is all made by me. If you dare, don't eat it."

Dong Tian hesitated for a moment, before looking down at the porridge in his bowl. In his heart, he wanted to refuse, but his stomach rumbled loudly. Gritting his teeth, he lowered his head and drank.

As he drank, he muttered to herself, "This is made from the ingredients in my house, why shouldn't I drink it?"

As for Lin Yue , she did not much of an appetite left. Just moments ago, she had been eating delicacies like sea cucumbers and abalones. She couldn't believe that in less than a day, she would be reduced to eating cornmeal porridge.

She felt a heavy weight in her chest, suffocating her with no room to breathe.

Standing up, she went straight into the house, hoping to get some time and quietness to herself to think.

This house was as poor as could be, with only a worn-out cabinet and a broken table.

On the window, there was a piece of broken mirror that was the size of one's palm. Lin Yue picked it up and looked at herself.

"Wow, so ugly," Lin Yue couldn't help but exclaim.

The woman in the mirror had a face that was as round as a pancake, with a double chin, small eyes, and one eye covered by a patch of cloth, giving her a pirate-like demeanour.

Surely, she was the blind bear.

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Yue took off the eye patch.

She wanted to see to what degree was her blindness really like.

But the moment the eye patch came off, Lin Yue was stunned.

Because her eye was perfectly fine. However, when she opened her eyes, she found herself in an extremely strange world. Although it was still daytime, everything appeared in black and white, as if drawn by an art student, with almost no color at all.

Nevertheless, this eye could see through walls into the courtyard, and even clearly saw a rat scurrying in the corner.

When she closed that eye, her colourful world returned.

With suspicion on her mind, Lin Yue pushed open the door, and Xiu Er timidly stood at the doorway, calling out, "Mom, come eat something too."

Lin Yue turned her head, momentarily forgetting to close her eye, and was astonished to see the girl at the door also turn black and white.

But what surprised her the most was seeing a black object, about the size of a grain of rice, inside the girl's chest.

Lin Yue was shocked.

"Xiu Er, come here," Lin Yue put the mirror down and beckoned Xiu Er over.

But Xiu Er was blocked by Dong Tian, who said, "Xiu Er, don't go. This woman has evil intentions. Don't call her mom. She doesn't deserve it."

Xiu Er hesitated, but in the end, obediently hid behind Dong Tian, peeking out with a pitiful look at Lin Yue.
