Chapter 10: Angrily rebuking obnoxious relatives!
"Grandma may not have money, but she had debts," Lin Yue said, crossing her arms and smirking coldly. There was not a hint of fear or worry in her expression.
"The debts will naturally be repaid by you. What does it have to do with us?" The second daughter-in-law's face was fierce.
Lin Yue chuckled and rolled her eyes. "Second sister-in-law, let me remind you that we're in the era of the rule of law now. You need to understand the law."
"When Grandma died, if she left a will stating that this money was to be repaid by me, fine, I'll acknowledge it. But if she didn't leave a will, then Grandma's property is to be divided equally among the three families. Similarly, the debts should also be divided equally among us."
"Why should we divide the debts? This money was borrowed by Grandma to marry off the youngest son. What does it have to do with us? Why should we divide the debt?" The second daughter-in-law exploded in anger at Lin Yue's words.

"Even if the money has to be repaid, both promissory notes should be returned, and we'll divide it equally among the three families. I'll only acknowledge my share."
"You... You... You're deliberately trying to dodge responsibility!" The second daughter-in-law's voice escalated in anger.
"In fact, you should be thankful that the promissory note didn't specify anything. If it clearly stated that the money was for marrying off the youngest son, then you wouldn't get a single penny," Lin Yue continued casually.
"What do you mean?" The second daughter-in-law suddenly had a bad feeling.
"You also haven't divided the family property yet, and as sister-in-laws, isn't it only natural for the both of you to arrange the youngest brother's marriage? " Lin Yue explained.
"Alternatively, how about you take these two children back to raise?"
The second daughter-in-law was dumbfounded. Wasn't this blind bear usually lazy and quite weak-willed? How did she suddenly become so assertive, even speaking so confidently and making so much sense?
On the other hand, the second uncle furrowed his brows and stepped forward to pull his wife aside.
"Why are you pulling me? How can this blind bear make sense? I refuse to believe she can really evade responsibility," the second daughter-in-law glared, her anger still simmering.
"We still have to discuss this with the eldest brother's family. Let's go back and sit down with them face-to-face to verify everything," the second uncle suggested.
This reminder prompted the second daughter-in-law to realize that this matter involved not only their family but also the eldest brother's family. Why should they bear all the responsibility while the eldest brother's family hides away?
"Fine, let's wait and see," the second daughter-in-law glared fiercely at Lin Yue before turning and leaving.
The second uncle also gave Lin Yue a deep look before following his wife.
Once they were gone, Lin Yue closed the courtyard gate and went inside to cook. Today's harvest was bountiful. Lin Yue grabbed two handfuls of rice, washed them thoroughly, added some peanuts and wild vegetables she dug up on the roadside on the way back, and cooked a pot of porridge that was many times better than yesterday's.
The aroma of the porridge quickly filled the air. The two children stood at the kitchen door, peeking inside, their mouths watering incessantly.
Lin Yue didn't turn around, but she felt a sour discomfort in her heart.
During the meal, Xiu Er didn't think much and took a big gulp first.
Dong Tian remained the same like the previous day, waiting until his sister had eaten most of her portion before pouring her another large bowl and then starting to eat himself.
Lin Yue felt a pang of heartache watching their actions, so she scooped another large bowl of porridge for him.
