Chapter 17: Crippled Xia has found his way here
The day before yesterday, Crippled Xia suffered a loss here, and naturally wouldn't let it go. Yesterday, he went back and invited two of his brothers over for dinner. After discussing the matter, they decided that things couldn't just end like that.
"Even if she agrees to divorce, she still has to compensate us."
Having agreed on the plan, they waited until their work ended and called over their friends to collectively confront Lin Yue.
Crippled Xia sneered upon hearing Lin Yue’s words, "You blind bear, when did you become a widow? What, did you get Qingshan killed?"
Lin Yue frowned, "Stop talking nonsense. Whether he lives or dies has nothing to do with you."
"Alright, I won’t bother about your family's affairs. But regarding Xiu’er's matter, I will intervene. My brothers are all here today, and you, this demoness, must give me an explanation."
Lin Yue coldly laughed, "I've already said it. Divorce, and I'll return the betrothal gifts in full. What else do you want?"
He quickly rebutted, "No way. When you say get married, we’ll get married. When you say divorce, we divorce? If I really do get a divorce, then where do I put my face?"
"No divorce? Fine. Come back in twenty years. Xiu’er is still young, not even of legal age to get married yet. Now we live in a society governed by law, you can't break it." Lin Yue's attitude was equally aggressive, saying things like “twenty years later” was just an excuse for time.
In twenty years, they would have disappeared and no one would know where they would have gone.
"Dream on. What twenty years? Do you think I'm stupid? Right now, today, I'm taking Xiu’er away with me." Xia Lamei's attitude was also very firm.
"Today? Don’t even think about it. Let me tell you, even if I don't stop you from taking her away, and you dare to snatch her, I'll go to the town and report you for kidnapping a minor. By then, you'll be rotting away in jail." Lin Yue was also resolute and uncompromising, refusing to give up.
"Ah, you blind bear, I really underestimated you. Reporting to the police? She's the child bride I bought with money. This is our family affair, and the country has no jurisdiction over it." Crippled Xia retorted confidently.
Lin Yue sneered, "Foolishness. We are now in a society ruled by law. There's no such thing as child brides. Besides, you claim that I let Xiu’er marry you, but do you have a marriage certificate or an introduction letter from me?"
"You..." Crippled Xia was dumbfounded by this.
"Second brother, why waste time talking to her? Just grab her and we'll have our wedding night tonight. Even if they try to take her back, who in the surrounding area would dare to take in damaged goods?"
Lin Yue's heart skipped a beat and she glared angrily at Crippled Xia, "She's only eight years old, and you want to consummate the marriage? Do you have any humanity left?"
The original owner of this body thought that with Crippled Xia’s wealth, and Xiu’er’s young age, it would have been impossible for them to consummate the marriage. Marrying Crippled Xia was equivalent to freely eating at his place, and even being able to receive medical treatment in the end. The original owner of this body never once imagined that Crippled Xia would be so depraved.
Hearing Lin Yue's accusation, Crippled Xia laughed heartily, "I’m inhumane, but regardless of how inhuman I am, I haven't sold my stepdaughter, have I? In the end, you're the one who sold her to me. What right do you have to say I have no humanity?"
He continued, "Well, since you're not willing to give her up, fine. We'll just take her ourselves. Brothers, charge in and grab her!"
"Alright!" The seven or eight young men behind him responded with a shout, brandishing their sticks and rolling pins as they charged forward.
Lin Yue's eyes turned red with anger as she swung her fireplace poker to block them.
Fortunately, the doorway was narrow, and Lin Yue was plump, making it nearly impossible for anyone to get past her.
Amidst the chaos of banging and clattering, Lin Yue paid no attention to the blows raining down on her body. But the fireplace poker in her hand was a formidable weapon indeed when she swung it out.
T/L: Fireplace poker
Can he just move on already… leave Xiu’er alone!
